Located within The Temple House in downtown Chengdu, Mi Xun is a traditionally styled spa and tea house with a distinctly modern touch. Aside from a beautiful and tranquil setting, Mi Xun also featured vegetarian cuisine. In the words of The Temple House:
Following The Temple House theme of highlighting rich oriental influences in its décor, Mi Xun Tea House is also designed by renowned UK architecture firm Make Architects. Inspired by the practice of TCM, the interior walls are elegantly styled to resemble traditional medicine compartments. For a truly authentic finish, these compact rows of drawers are also meticulously engraved with the names of different herbs and medicines.
The refined vegetarian menu at Mi Xun Tea House is in turn inspired by the healthful dishes once served at Daci Temple. Whether its the signature Shanghainese delicacy – four-ingredient roasted bran, the refreshing and delightful cherry tomatoes, or the aromatic lotus soy fried rice, the tea house’s balanced offerings are light yet tasty and prepared with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. More highlights include the Sichuan style cold noodles and rice jello, two classic dishes made with natural local ingredients that reveal a refreshingly light side of Sichuan cuisine.
